Placentia Library Director Message: County Offering COVID Tests (December 10, 2020)

Dear Placentia Library District Patrons,

The County of Orange is now offering saliva-based COVID-19 testing to all Orange County residents. During Phase 1, the at-home test kit was available to cities with the highest cases – Santa Ana and Anaheim. The County has implemented Phase 2 of its at-home saliva test kits with Ambry Genetics and is making them available to all residents in Orange County.

Orange County residents can visit ochealthinfo.com/covidtest to register to receive a test kit shipped directly to their home at no cost. An online order for a kit placed by 1 p.m. PST, Monday-Friday, will arrive the next day. Orders placed after 1 p.m. or on a weekend, will arrive the following Tuesday. The kit includes a return label and package to send completed specimen to Ambry Genetics Lab. You can drop-off at a FedEx location or call (800) 463-3393 to schedule a pickup. You will be notified via email when results are ready. A PWN Health provider will contact those with a positive result.

There will be 500,000 at-home test kits available by the end of the year. As you can imagine, requests for these kits will be in high demand. We encourage you to be patient while you attempt to place your online order. Ambry Genetics is able to process 4,000 tests daily with a 48-hour notification of results turnaround time. Ambry Genetics tests were developed in accordance to the federal agencies’ most current guidance.

If you need assistance to learn about other test options, the County encourages residents to call the County’s Health Referral Line at (800) 564-8448 or for the hearing impaired, (800) 801-7100.

We, at the Placentia Library District, continue to wish you and your family good health during this time of temporary sacrifice. Our library team remains available to serve you, Tuesday – Saturday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., in-person and virtually.

Respectfully,
Jeanette Contreras
