Placentia Library Director Message: Happy Holidays! (December 21, 2021)

Dear Placentia Library District Patrons,

On behalf of our Library Board and staff, we like to extend our warmest greetings to you and your family during the most wonderful time of the year!

As we celebrate the many different holidays - Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, Winter Solstice, Three Kings, St. Lucia Day – let us remember that it is this difference that makes us unique, special, and embodies our Placentia community as one. Sometimes, in the hustle and bustle of the festivities, we forget to slow down and remember the true meaning of the season – family.

In the face of enormous and ongoing challenges, our library staff never forgot our Placentia family. Our team performed incredibly well despite the constant unknowns of the pandemic. We find joy in our work and are reminded of the impacts we’re making from the regularity of online programming, in-person storytime, enriched reading materials, to contactless service and accessibility to community space for collaboration and engagement.

While the pandemic is far from over, we are hopeful and optimistic that the significant progress made during this year will lead us to the return of something resembling a normal life. We are here for your family and as you visit our library this season, we hope you experience the simple joy and magic of being in a caring community space. As a connector, we hope that the reading and learning you experienced in-person and virtually, fosters a sense of purpose and meaning for you and your family.

In the spirit of the season, we wish you and your family merry days, warm smiles, and abundance of reading time. May all that is beautiful, joyful and meaningful be yours this season and may it be as wonderful as you remembered as a child.

We look forward to a brighter 2022 with you and your family!

Respectfully,

Jeanette Contreras
Library Director
