Placentia Library Director Message (October 28, 2024)
Dear Placentia Library District Patrons,
We are thrilled to announce the available new privacy pods in the Quiet Nook at the Placentia Library District! Please see image below.
These privacy pods (Serenity and Harmony) are ADA-compliant and can be used by our patrons for telehealth appointments, job interviews, legal appointments, educational sessions, or any other virtual connection that requires privacy. They are designed to offer a quiet and secure space for our patrons to work or study without distractions.
Key features include:
- Soundproofing: Each pod is equipped with soundproof walls and a magnetic and thick acrylic door to ensure private conversations and mute distracting noise, keeping conversations in and exterior noise out.
- LED Lighting: Motion activated LED lights help to preserve energy and create a well-lite environment or video conferences and focused work.
- Active Ventilation Ceiling: Mounted fans circulate air to keep the pod cool and fresh.
- Technology: Two outlets, A+C ports, and an ethernet port ensure you can connect all your devices at one time, along with high speed Wi-Fi access.
The following guidelines for use of these pods are as follows:
- Patrons must be at least 13 years of age.
- Patrons must be a current valid Placentia Library cardholder.
- Pods can be reserved for up to two (2) hours/day.
- Pods are for use by one person at a time.
- Pods must be left in good condition for the next patron.
- Patrons are required to provide their own equipment, such as laptop or devices, as well as any necessary cables or adapters to connect and use the services.
- Library food and beverage policy applies inside pods. No eating or outside food is permitted. Drinks with closed lids are allowed.
- Tampering with District equipment, technology access, and furniture are prohibited. Patrons will be responsible for damages.
Please see a staff member at the Information Desk for use of these pods. There is no charge for use. We invite you to visit the Placentia Library District and explore these new privacy pods.
